Avanti x Magdalena CCF 3/3/07

Avondale was positively evaluated for his performance potential by Thomas Poulin, world-renowned dressage judge and trainer. Blessed with three fabulous gaits and the personality to match his siblings, this talented young gelding shows the makings of a top dressage pony and is conformationally correct for a variety of disciplines.

A star pupil, Avondale is very bright, eager to bond with humans, and naturally curious. His enthusiasm for learning has lent itself well to his ground training – in fact, he is even learning to bow. As Arizona’s full brother, it’s easy to see that his willingness as a student certainly runs in the family. Avondale’s height will be perfectly suited to getting his Pony Card, enabling him and his rider to compete in Pony Classes in USDF and USEF competitions. He’ll be started under saddle in spring 2010.

Avondale’s dam, Magdalena, is by Magenta WULF, National Grand Champion in halter, National Champion in dressage and National Show Jumping Champion, jumping heights of 58-60” and out of an imported dam. Magdalena's offspring have consistently proven their versatility on the jump course, in the dressage ring, and in the shafts. Magdalena is fine-boned and refined in her conformation. Her performance specialty is driving, though she successfully competed for the first time in the dressage ring as a 13-year-old. This mare exhibits a level of patience in all situations that is simply priceless in an equine companion.

His sire, Avanti, is an elegant National Grand Champion Stallion, Silver-rated with huge, suspended movement (scored '9' in Overall Movement on his stallion inspection). He has more than one dressage championship under his belt and truly enjoys competing and capturing the spotlight. Just after starting his jumping career he won every combined training competition in which he was entered. He was selected by Horse Illustrated magazine as their centerfold representation of the Haflinger in their March, 2008 issue. Though a high-powered performer and sire, Avanti is a lovable teddy bear at heart.
